One of the special aspects of motion picture production is the element of Game Time. That same mix of anticipation we feel when the players burst out of the tunnel – practice is over; it's on. The camera rolls and we focus. More important, we listen, observe, and take everything in. There's a fun factor too, between takes, during breaks or when we stop to eat lunch it's actually better to keep our minds clear, make small talk, banter, relax. It's a nice feeling too because if we've planned the day well we know that valubale things are being accomplished. But like a big game there are always the critical, unexpected moments; the weather changes, a location is not available, the proverbial ball is dropped, and our split-second reaction is all that matters. In these moments, when all our careful planning goes out the window and we operate on instinct, wonderful things can happen.
